Welcome Home :)
We were talking in the milkchat tonight about how it would be nice to have a safe place for all the Gay Youth Bloggers out there to host their blogs. A place they can rely on and trust in, where they won’t get kicked for random reasons like it happens at services like Blogger. Since we have way more web space on the milkboys server than we need… I thought we could just create such a place right here, right now! :D
So, what do you get?
~ A sub-domain à la name.milkboys.org (isn’t that cool?)
~ 200 MB of web space for your blog and media files
~ Besides that you can host media files externally of course
~ A WordPress blog software setup ready to run
~ Free choice of theme for your blog (there are thousands)
~ Tech support and help with the basics of WordPress
~ The chance to be a part of an amazing community :)
What do we ask for in return?
Not much. Just a few basic things: This service is made for journals of queer teens. We won’t set an age limit here but… you get the idea. “Journals” means that this is meant to be a place for personal blogs like this and not for picture-, video- or porn blogs. We don’t have endless bandwidth so please don’t stream videos or such things – you can of course post videos to services like Vimeo or YouTube and embed them on your site. And, finally, your content must be legal by Swedish law. This shouldn’t be hard for a personal blog ‘tho ;) That’s it!
Cool! How do I get a blog!?
Easy: Just drop us a line via mail and tell us you want a blog. It would be nice if you would let us us a few basics about yourself and what you want to do with your blog. You have a blog already and want to move? Sure thing. Attach the link to your mail and we’ll let you know if we can help you importing the old content from it.
Anything else?
All people involved in this project are doing this in their free time. So please bear with us, we’re not a pro-team of tech supporters and it might take a while before we can get back to you — especially in the early stages of the enterprise when we’re busy setting up many new blogs. We won’t accept more than 10 sign ups a week so we get enough time to set everything up and help people if needed.
And it’s all for free, right?
Right! If you have a few dollars more than you need we would be happy to accept your donation but that’s absoultely optional, the service will be always available with all its features to everyone.
